How can a digital tool become a natural part of daily work? This was one of the starting points when Kontigo Care carried out an in-depth onboarding process with the Municipality of Laxå. Through practical exercises, inspiration, and examples tailored to the organization’s operations, the focus was on fostering a deeper understanding of how Previct Care can be used when working with various client groups.
When the technology exists – but adoption needs to get underway
Introducing a new digital way of working often involves more than just learning a system’s functions. For a tool to be truly put to use, employees need to feel comfortable with the technology, understand its benefits, and, above all, see how it can be applied within their own specific operations.
This was also the background to the in-depth onboarding that Kontigo Care carried out together with Laxå Municipality. The municipality already had access to Previct Care but wanted to create better conditions for more staff members to feel comfortable using the tool in their work.
An important part of the training was therefore to demonstrate that Previct Care is not solely about alcohol and drug testing, but also offers digital support functions that can complement existing work with clients.
Training tailored to the organization’s needs
A total of 13 employees participated, with varying experiences, job responsibilities, and target audiences.
Among other things, the participants were able to explore the care portal, the client app, and various support functions in greater depth. Through workshops and role-playing, they also had the opportunity to discuss how Previct Care can be introduced to clients, as well as how to address questions or concerns regarding its use.
A particular focus was placed on exploring various areas of application. How can digital questions and tasks be used to monitor a client’s well-being between sessions? How can reminders and goals contribute to better structure in daily life? And how can clinicians use digital follow-up as a complement to their regular meetings? By basing the discussions on the participants’ own professional tasks, the conversations became more concrete and relevant.
Positive response from the participants
Following the training, the participants had the opportunity to evaluate the setup and describe how their attitude toward Previct Care had changed.
10 out of 12 respondents stated that their attitude had become positive or much more positive after the training.
The participants particularly appreciated the clear walkthroughs of the features, the opportunity to ask questions, and the fact that the training was held on multiple occasions. The practical components—such as workshops and role-plays—were also highlighted as valuable. At the same time, the evaluation provided important insights into how our training and onboarding processes can be further developed.
The most important lesson: show how the tool fits into everyday life
One request from the participants was to receive even more concrete examples of how Previct Care can be used in areas other than alcohol and drug-related issues.
For staff working with, for example, children, young people, families, or other forms of support services, it is important to understand how digital features can be relevant to their specific line of work. This might involve using questions to monitor well-being, tasks to support agreed-upon changes, or reminders to help the client establish structure and routines.
It is therefore not just a matter of being able to handle a digital tool, but rather of seeing how it can complement the work already being done. When staff members understand how Previct Care can be used with their own client groups, it also becomes easier to see the possibilities offered by the tool.
Onboarding is an important part of a successful implementation.
The experiences from Laxå demonstrate the importance of tailoring training to the specific circumstances of an organization. Employees have varying levels of experience with digital tools, work with different target groups, and have different needs for support. Consequently, an onboarding process must encompass more than just technical instructions; it should also provide opportunities to discuss working methods, explore potential applications, and engage in practical exercises.
The positive response from the participants in Laxå is an encouraging result. At the same time, an improved attitude is merely a first step. For us at Kontigo Care, the objective is to help organizations not only get started with Previct Care, but also to create the conditions for long-term and meaningful use.
